The House of Representatives and the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus on the last day of the spring session, June 30, ratified the agreement on the Customs Code of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan. It was reported by a source in the government bodies. This information was confirmed by sources, close to Russian government.
«We were informed unofficially that everything was examined positively by the parliament today in the afternoon», PRIME-TASS quotes the representative of the Russian side.
There has not been received an official confirmation on the ratification of the Customs Code by both chambers of Belarus’ parliament, but representatives of Belarusian leadership neither refute it. After being approved by the parliament, the treaty should be signed by Belarusian president, Alexander Lukashenko.
Meanwhile, First Vice-Premier of Belarus, Vladimir Semashko, told reporters after his speech in the parliament on June 30 that Minsk was ready to sign the Customs Code of the Customs Union «very day», but according to him, the only prerequisite for that was Russia’s abolition of export duties on oil products, BelaPAN informs.
«If they don’t do that, we have reserves, we can wait. On July 4 to 5 (these days in Astana there will be held a meeting of the Interstate Council of EurAsEC and the higher institution of the Customs Union at the level of heads of states — Telegraf) you will get answers to all your questions», deputy head of Belarus’ government said.
Draft laws to ratify the treaty on the Customs Code of the Customs Union and the Protocol on introducing amendments and addenda to the Treaty on the Customs Code were received by the House of Representatives on June 8. On June 10, these issues were included in the agenda of the current session of the lower house of the parliament.
