Israeli police recommended the country's Attorney-General, Yehuda Weinstein, formally charge accusations in corruption against former Israeli Ambassador to Belarus, Zeev Ben-Arie, and the head of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Avigdor Lieberman. The police also recommended bring a charge against the present head of the Israeli Foreign Ministry on money-laundering through abuse of public trust.

According to the police information, allegedly, during recent visit of Avigdor Lieberman in Minsk in October 2008 Zeev Ben Arie transmitted him copies of documents relating to possible corruption charges. The police say that among the transferred materials there was a target request of the Israeli Minister of Justice to the government of Belarus on the inspection of bank accounts of Avigdor Lieberman, Lenta.ru informs.

The police suspect the head of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs of illegal receipt of 2.5 million dollars under the guise of donations for his election campaign. According to police, the money was remitted to Avigdor Lieberman through his daughter’s bank account in Cyprus.

As Telegraf previously reported, the police link the main suspicions against Avigdor Lieberman with the activities of his daughter’s Cyprus company. The investigation seeks to prove that at the company’s accounts there illegally came large sum of money then divided between a politician and his retinue.
