Abkhaz President, Sergei Bagapsh, expressed his opinion regarding the position of the leaders of Belarus and Central Asian countries on the issue of recognition of self-proclaimed republics' independence. The Abkhaz leader is "disappointed a little" with refusal of the post-Soviet states to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia.

Sergei Bagapsh believes that the leaders of Belarus and Central Asian countries at the moment decided not to take action on Abkhazia and South Ossetia because of the pressure from the EU, Le Temps informs.

«At least, the key point for us is to launch our state. The most important for us today is to demonstrate its viability, and international recognition will come in certain time», the Abkhaz leader is sure.

To the date, the independence of self-proclaimed republics is recognized by Russia, Nicaragua, Venezuela and diminutive state of Nauru.

As Telegraf previously reported, Russian President, Dmitry Medvedev, reminded about the promise of Belarusian leader, Alexander Lukashenko, to recognize the independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia. «Lukashenko said: «I promise solemnly that I’ll do everything in a very short time», Russian president reminded.
