The Red Ink Has Exceeded 1.3 Billion Dollars since the Beginning of the Year, Belstat

In Belarus, in January-April period of this year the foreign trade balance was negative and amounted to 1.34 billion dollars. It's shown in data of the National Statistics Committee. The volume of foreign trade in goods and services for the period amounted to 18.48 billion dollars, including export — 8.5675 billion dollars, import — 9.9129 billion dollars.

According to the trade balance data, the volume of foreign trade in goods over the first four months of this year amounted to 16.5 billion dollars, including export — 7.2 billion dollars, import — 9.3 billion dollars. In January-April 2010, there also formed a negative balance of foreign trade of 2.06 billion dollars against 2.6 billion dollars over the same period of last year, AFN informs.

The main sources of negative balance of foreign trade are export-import operations with intermediate products (energy resources, raw materials and components).

In January-April 2010, in Belarus there have been imported intermediate goods equal to 6.8 billion dollars, or 15.9% more than over the relevant period of past year. The export of intermediate goods amounted to 4.6 billion dollars, what is 22% more than in January-April of 2009.

The black ink in consumer goods trade amounted to 8.1 million dollars, Belstat

According to statistics, the balance of foreign trade in consumer goods in January-April of this year has a positive value of 8.1 million dollars, while in January-April of last year, it was negative and amounted to 252.3 million dollars.

The formation of the black ink has been affected by significant increase in exports of both food (by 46.4%) and non-food (at 32.4%) products. According to the National Statistics Committee, import purchases of consumer goods for the food group rose by 2.1%, for non-food — by 20.9%.

The increase in food exports was resulted by the growth in supplies’ value of white sugar (by 76.5 million dollars), condensed and dry milk (by 62.1 million dollars), beef (by 38.8 million dollars), cheese and cottage cheese (by 23.3 million dollars), butter (by 20.3 million dollars), milk and non-condensed cream (by 18.9 million dollars).

The export of consumer goods increased due to the growth in supply of refrigerators (by 14.4 million dollars), furniture (by 14 million dollars), hosiery (by 10.5 million dollars), footwear (by 8.8 million dollars), gas cookers (by 7.7 million dollars) to foreign markets.
