The U.S. Imposes Sanctions Against Iranian Banks Operating in Belarus

On August 3, the U.S. Treasury Department supplement a list of companies, which are subjected to unilateral sanctions, with 21 Iranian companies working in finance, insurance, investment, mining and industry. Among other companies, the sanctions are also imposed against two Iranian banks, registered in Belarus.

Onerbank and Trade Capital Bank registered in Belarus, were included in the list because, according to the U.S. Treasury, they are controlled by Iranian banking institutions, RIA Novosti informs.

Unilateral U.S. sanctions will be applied to two Iranian banks — Export Development Bank of Iran and Sina Bank. Before that, the U.S. imposed sanctions against Iran’s 17 banks.

In addition, the list was supplemented with Iran Foreign Investment Company, as well as IFIC Holding and IHAG Trading, located in Germany. The sanctions are also spread on 14 mining and research companies. The U.S. Treasury Department advises all American citizens and companies to stop all transactions with these Iranian organizations.
