The concentration of specific dust and sulfur oxides in volcanic cloud over the territory of Belarus is negligible. This conclusion was made by scientists from National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. According to the experts, a cloud of ash from Icelandic volcano Eyyafyatlayokudl currently does not constitute a menace to the health of our country's people.

Belarusian scientists are monitoring the atmosphere using a laser beam, Minsk-News agency reports. «Right now, the cloud is moving to southeast toward the Black Sea», the head of the Laboratory of Optics of dispersal medium of Stepanov Institute of Physics of Belarusian National Academy of Sciences, Anatoly Tchaikovsky, said. «But its concentration over the territory of our country at Monday noon is negligible».

Domestic scientists regularly observe the atmosphere over the territory of Belarus. After the eruption of Eyyafyatlayokudl volcano, specialists have worked in increased control regime. The measurements of atmosphere are carried out at a distance from 4 to 9 kilometers above sea level. To carry out this work, it is necessary the sky to be cloudless or with some cloud.

In Iceland itself, you do not need any special equipment to see a cloud of volcanic dust. The atmosphere is so polluted that it seems as if it were smoke after the fire.
