Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, who is in Belarus with working visit on June 21-22, before flying to Minsk stated that the conflict over Minsk's non-payment of gas debt has no connection with politics. According to the head Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the issue will not be discussed during his talks with Belarusian colleagues.

«There are companies of the two countries engaged in it, which are in direct dialogue at the moment. There is a contract, and there should not be any misunderstanding», Russian foreign minister believes, AFN informs.

Sergei Lavrov added that the issue is out of the competence of both countries’ foreign ministries.

As Telegraf previously reported, in the morning of June 21, Gazprom began to cut gas supplies to Belarus. In the company stated that the reason for that was Minsk’s reluctance to pay for «blue fuel» supplies at the price of 2010 and repay the arrears accumulated from the beginning of the year in amount of 192 million dollars.

During the talks in Moscow, took place at the weekend, the Belarusian side suggested Russia to repay the debt not in currency but in goods.
