Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Anatoly Tozik, speaking on February 16 in the House of Representatives, said that was necessary to take measures to stop the depopulation of the Belarusian nation."If we do not, then what is the sense for us to slave away, if there may not be our people in 200 years?", — Deputy Prime Minister said.

«Family should become a cult. All of this should be our global objective, which all the officials should work over», — Anatoly Tozik said. He considers it necessary to direct the authorities’ efforts to reduce the mortality rate and to increase longevity of the citizens, BelTA informs.
Some experts believe that the authorities intend to correct the demographic situation in the country and to compensate the natural loss of Belarusians through immigration. It was previously announced that each family to come to Belarus in 2011, will receive from the state to thousands of dollars to adapt.
As Telegraf informed, the population of Belarus declined by 18.9 thousand people in 2010. The country’s population amounted to 9481.1 thousand people on January 1, 2011. Thus, despite the positive migration gain of above 10.3 thousand people, the number of deaths is 29.1 thousand more than the number of births.
