There was No Bus Explosion in Minsk, MES and MIA (updated)

Ministry of Interior has denied rumors circulated among the public that explosion occurred on one of the buses in Minsk in the morning on April 12. The Ministry of Emergency Situations also commented on the rumors, saying that the data are not confirmed.

The information, distributed among the population about the alleged explosion at a public bus route, is nothing but misinformation,» said the Interior Ministry.

«The Ministry for Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus has been receiving journalists’ reports of the alleged bombings, recently occurred in Minsk. Different addresses are called: «Moskovski» bus station, Vostochnaya Street, the bus route number 100 at the Victory Square and others,» Ministry of Emergency Situations said in its statement.

«The Ministry of Emergency Situations announces that neither the information about the explosions or the above addresses or in general in Minsk and Belarus has been confirmed. There’s no evidence of any other situations, involving injury or death of people. In case of emergency situations, information about them will be promptly posted on the website of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, which is accessible by a short address 112.by,» stated in the department.

According to the confirmed reports, burned wiring ignited the engine in one of the regular buses at Filimonova Street by the National Library. Firefighters are working at the scene.
