There are no real elections in Belarus. This statement was made by the leaders of Belarusian opposition. "Instead of the promised liberalization, the authorities continued to use tactics of intimidation of democratic activists, members of their teams, as well as the citizens who put signatures for opposition candidates' nomination", said in a statement.

Opposition politicians note that all the promises of the authority representatives, from the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, to the head of Central Election Commission, Lydia Yermoshina, that this campaign will meet the standards of transparent, free and fair elections were just propaganda statements.

According to politicians, the current electoral campaign, in fact, does not fundamentally differ from the previous — not recognized as free and fair by the international community, Belarus partisan informs.

«The institution of elections in Belarus is in total crisis. There are elections on one-man-for-one-seat base in the vast majority of the constituencies. Average number of registered candidates per constituency is less than 1.2. The actual appointment of deputies is the result of complete degradation of the electoral system», noted in document.

Opposition leaders assert that results which government will announce on the day of elections, April 25, 2010, can not be considered as reflection of Belarusian voters’ will.

The present opposition’s statement was signed by chairman of Belarusian Party «The Greens», Oleg Novikov, Belarusian Women’s Party «Nadzeya», Alena Yaskova, chairman of Belarusian Party of the Left «Fair World», Sergei Kalyakin, BSDG, Stanislav Shushkevich, Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Hramada), Anatoly Levkovich, leader of the UCP, Anatoly Lebedko, leader of «For Freedom» Movement, Alexander Milinkevich, chairman of the organizing committee for the creation of Belarusian Social Democratic Party (People’s Hramada), Nikolai Statkevich, chairman of the organizing committee for creation of «For Free Development of Business», Viktor Gorbachev, co-chairman of the BCD, Vital Rymasheuski, chairman of the organizing committee for the establishment of the Party of Freedom and Progress, Vladimir Novosyad, chairman of the organizing committee for the establishment of Belarusian Party of Labor, Alexander Bukhvostov, head of BNF Party, Alexei Yanukevich.
