Economic Adviser of Russian Embassy in Belarus, Andrei Kuznetsov, stated that there had been no political agreements on gas payment at last year's price between Moscow and Minsk. In this regard, Russian diplomat stressed that Belarus "should fulfill international obligations".

Andrei Kuznetsov also reminded of the sanctions stipulated by the contract between Gazprom and Beltransgaz for the delay in payment for Russian gas. According to him, it can be a fine as well as limitation of «blue fuel» supply, PRIME-TASS informs.

At the same time, the adviser of the Russian Embassy in Minsk stressed that the Russian party expects that «it will be possible to avoid the extremes on this issue» and that «the Belarusian party will resolve the problem of accumulated arrears in accordance with the current contract in near future».

As Telegraf previously reported, by the end of April Belarus’ debt for natural gas to Russia almost reached 200 million dollars. The debt emergence is caused by the fact that Minsk pays for gas at last year’s price which is lower than under the contract for this year.
