They Try to Destabilize Belarus through Trash-Internet, Lukashenko

June 17, at a press conference organized for Belarusian national and regional media, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko chided reporters that the information on the situation in the country is biased and incorrect. "Today, they are trying to make Belarus "swing" by other means, including  this trash, whose name is the Internet," said Alexander Lukashenko.

Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that the journalists’ task is honest and complete information coverage. To this end, according to the president, the head of state should meet with reporters and discuss «the hottest issues.»

«Solution lies not only in quiet office rooms. But let’s set one condition — to speak honestly and fairly with one another,» said Alexander Lukashenko.

The President reminded every journalist of his civil and professional responsibility, including presenting information about the economic situation in the country. According to Alexander Lukashenko, the media are responsible for currency fever in the forex market. «We would further live quietly under a quiet set of circumstances,» said the president.

We Not in the Least to Deviate from «Belarusian Model,» Lukashenko

«Many say that the economic model, the so-called Belarusian economic miracle, has collapsed. The Belarusian socio-economic model hasn’t anyhow collapsed. Many people have copied pretty much from this model. And not in the least we are going to deviate from it,» said the head of state.

«Officials do not have to go out for idle talks. One should catch up a bit. Maybe someone needs tightening belts,» said the president.

It should be noted that not all willing to participate at this press conference have managed to do so. Representatives of the Belarusian independent media (Telegraf, BelaPAN) were denied in accreditation. The latter hasn’t been let to the press conference with the President for the first time in 17 years.
