This Summer in Belarus Becomes the Hottest in 100-Year Observations

Specialists of the Republican hydro meteorological center reported that on Sunday, August 8, in Gomel there registered the highest temperature of this summer — plus 38.9 degrees. According to forecasters, this figure was the absolute maximum of temperature for the day and month in general, and this summer in Belarus has become the hottest over the century-long period of meteorological observations.

On August 8, many weather stations in the south-east of Belarus recorded absolute maximum of temperature for the day. For example, in Belarus in general, in Orsha there was plus 38 degrees, in Kostiukovichi and Vitebsk — 37.8 degrees, in Klichev and Slavgorod — 37.7 degrees, Mstislavl — 37.6 degrees, Gorki — 37.5 degrees, Senno — 37.4 degrees, Mogilev — 36.7 degrees, Ezerishchy and Berezino — 36.2 degrees, 35.8 degrees in Polotsk, BelTA informs.

In total, at 15 meteorological stations of Belarus over the past weekend there was beaten absolute maximum of temperatures for August.

As Telegraf already reported, according to Belhydromet, at the beginning of this week when atmospheric front moves to the east of Belarus the heat to weaken in almost all the country’s territory. Only in the eastern regions there will still be plus 30-34 degrees.
