Thunderstorm and Strong Wind De-energize 552 Localities in Belarus

Thunderstorms and strong gusty wind (up to 18 m/s) recorded in Belarus on August 17, de-energized 552 localities of the Republic. As of 06:00 on August 18, electricity was not restored in 10 localities. Almost all outages are recorded in Minsk region, reported in Belarusian MES.

According to MES, on August 17 thunderstorm and strong wind harmed 12 localities in seven districts of Vitebsk, Gomel, Minsk and Mogilev regions. There damaged roofs of 17 residential houses (not restored) and eight agricultural facilities (not restored).

At 19:20, at Talka-Vereitsy railway span of Osipovichi district, Mogilev region, fallen on the railroad trees delayed (up to 1.3 hours) two electric trains of Minsk-Osipovichi direction and two passenger trains on their way from Minsk to Anapa and Feodosia. No one was injured.

Emergency units are carrying put the restoration work.
