Trade Deficit Exceeded $ 5 billion in Belarus

Over the eight months of 2010 foreign trade deficit has reached $ 5.01 billion. The negative balance of Belarusian trade with the CIS countries amounted to $3.91billion (against $5.68 billion in January-August 2009), with Russia — $4.83 billion (compared to $6.32 billion). 

In trade with countries outside the CIS trade deficit amounted to $1.1 billion despite a surplus of $1.02 billion in 2009, AFN.

Foreign trade volume in January-August 2010 amounted to $35.79 billion, an increase of 16.1% over the same period of 2009. Imports of goods grew by 15.0% to $20.4billion, export — by 17.6% to $15.39billion.

Deliveries to the CIS countries amounted to $8.36 billion, an increase of 47.8% compared with January-August of 2009. Exports to Russia increased by 48.7% to $6.08 billion, in countries outside the CIS fell by 5.5% to $7.02 billion.

Imports from CIS countries amounted to $12.27 billion, an increase of 8.3%. At the same time, imports from Russia increased by 4.8% to $10.91 billion. Non-CIS imports rose up by 26.8% up to $8.12 billion in Belarus.

August trade deficit was $8.12 billion. In July, it was equal to $691.1 million, in June — $787.6 million, in May — $659.1 million, in April — $827 million, in March — $767.3 million, in February — $440.5 million, in January — $28.5 million.
