Turkish Bank May Appear In Belarus

March 11-13, Chief of the Central Bank of Turkey Durmush Yilmaz made his first official visit to Belarus   and,particularly, visited the National Bank of Belarus. "During the negotiations, the parties called for the establishment  of the bank with participation of one or more of the major Turkish banks", — the information department of the National Bank reports.

The National Bank also noted that Belarusian and Turkish sides are interested in development of bilateral cooperation between the central banks of two countries in next areas: «attracting investment, training of personnel, organization of research activities, exchange of information and publications on economic and financial issues,» — the BNB reported.

During a meeting with chairman Peter Prokopovich and specialists of the National Bank, the sides exchanged of views «on the socio-economic development of the two countries and impact of the global financial crisis, development of the banking sector, as well as on other issues and topics.»

The information department of the National Bank pointed out that in recent years, trade and economic relations between Belarus and Turkey are developing dynamically. «Only in January of this year compared with the same period in 2009, bilateral trade increased by more than half and reached 25,4 million dollars. The flow of Turkish investments in Belarus is constantly increasing,» — the main bank of the country informed.

The parties also reaffirmed their intention to hold regular meetings between the leaders and experts from central banks of Belarus and Turkey. «This will further strengthen the relations between two countries in financial and banking spheres», — stressed the National Bank.
