UDF Convene Urgent Consultations On Non-participation In Elections

Bureau of Political Council of the United Democratic Forces of Belarus supported the UDF co-chair Anatoly Lebedko's initiative on urgent political consultations. The subject of discussion is possible refusal of opposition parties from further participation in local elections in connection with a small representation of the UDF in the election commissions.

«After the representatives of the democratic forces were not included in any county commission or in the precinct commission, the participation in the electoral farce is a big question. But in order for our decision was a serious political clout, it should be consolidated. UDF should immediately begin consultations with political entities from other coalitions,»- says the politician.

As Telegraf previously reported, the number of oppositionists in precinct election commissions on elections of deputies of local councils amounted to 0,15% of the total number of commission members. Political parties and entities belonging to the UDF coalition, nominated 912 representatives to precinct commissions.

«Finally, only 100 people were included in district election committees. Among them — 31 representatives of the Belarusian party of lefties «Fear World», the five — members of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party (Gramada), 23 — United Civil Party, 17 — BPF, 15 — Movement «For Freedom» and nine people present organizing committee of the Belarusian Party of Women.»- the press service of the UDF reports.

According to the press service, «pro-governmental political parties, such as the Belarusian Social and Sports Party, the Agrarian Party and the Communist Party of Belarus and the Republican Party of Labor and Justice have in election commissions 1 333 members.
