Unemployment Rate in Belarus is Less than Percent

Nikolay Kokhonov, the chief of the central department for the employment and population strategy of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, informed that the unemployment rate in the country since September of last year continues to be in the range 0,9 %. The expected indicator on unemployment rate by the end of 2010 is 1,2-1,5 %.

The representative of the Ministry of Labour emphasized that in comparison with the last year almost all the indicators characterizing employment strategy of the state, such as employment of the jobless and unemployed citizens, assignment to professional training etc., have increased, BelTA informs.

Thus the numner of the people, wanting employment and registration as the unemployed, have increased. In particular, in January-May of this year 91.8 thousand persons received the status of the unemployed. In May number of the unemployed decreased by 2.3 thousand persons. On June, 1st, 2010 the officially unemployed were 40.8 thousand persons. It is by two thousand less, than in the similar period of the last year.

Seasonal growth of labour demand is also observed in the country. Number of the free workplaces on June, 1st of this year was 48.1 thousand. The number of of the free workplaces in the of vacancies bank of the civil employment service may also increase in summer .

«The situation on the labour market of Belarus is stable and controllable», Nikolay Kokhonov considers.

Under the on-line data, the lowest indicator of the registered unemployment is 0,4 % in Minsk. In May this level decreased in Vitebsk and Hrodna Voblasts to 1,1 %, in Brest Voblast — to 1 %, in Minsk — to 0,8 %. In the other Voblasts the unemployment is on the former mark, i.e. 1,1 % in the Homel Voblast, and 1% in Mahilyow Voblast.
