June 17, some media reported that the Russian company Uralkali refused to buy Belaruskali shares. Alexei Sotskov, head of Uralkali Public Relations, reported to Telegraf that that information is incorrect.

«Let me remind you that Uralkali has never claimed to purchase Belaruskali,» said Alexey Sotskov.

As Telegraf previously reported, Uralkali President Vladislav Baumgertner had stated about Uralkali’s getting ready to purchase a controlling stake of Belaruskali, the largest Belarusian producer of fertilizers. According to him, the application may be filed in the coming months.

Willingness to finance the deal was expressed by Russia’s Sberbank. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko assesses Belaruskali at $30 billion, but the Russian side expressed the need to attract independent experts to its evaluation.
