The issue of investments in the Belarusian economy has been discussed at the bilateral talks between President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko and Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez. As reported in the administration of the Belarusian leader, the participation of Venezuelan companies in the privatization of industrial enterprises of Belarus could become another area of the mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.

In addition, the sides discussed prospects for joint access to the third countries markets, through the Belarusian trade house in Venezuela as well. Work for its establishment is actively underway at present.

Great interest for both countries is the possibility of cooperation through technical assistance programs implemented in the «Bolivarian Alternative for the Peoples of Our America» (ALBA) integration. Belarus is ready to work here actively — either to deliver the required goods to ALBA countries and partners or to transfer their experience in the field of economic and food security.

As reported in the Administration of Alexander Lukashenko, Belarusian — Venezuelan relations «have reached the level of strategic partnership and become a model of a fruitful and dynamic international cooperation» for four years since the first meeting of the two presidents.

Presidents of Belarus and Venezuela to Meet Annually

The nature of the bilateral relations is largely determined by the friendly relations of Heads of State, the President Administration noted. Alexander Lukashenko has twice visited Venezuela: in December 2007 and in March 2010. In his turn, Hugo Chavez has already visited Belarus five times. Previous visits took place in 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009. The parties agreed to hold regular (at least once a year) meetings at the presidential level.

«During the negotiations on October 16 presidents made a kind of intermediate totals of their joint work and «synchronized their watches», having substantively discussed the prospects of bilateral relations,» the administration of Alexander Lukashenko noted. The sides noted the need for more rapid implementation of joint projects in industry, agriculture, construction, petrochemicals.

Thus, plants producing trucks and tractors in Venezuela, are to launch in less than a year. A plant for the production of building materials is also being built now in Venezuela.

Belarus is Ready to Increase the Agricultural Products Supply in Venezuela

Besides the Belarusian leadership expressed willingness to increase the supply of agricultural products in Venezuela, as well as to participate actively in the creation of modern agriculture there.

President of Belarus stressed that parties should also expand cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, increasingly move towards each other in areas such as education, culture, sports, tourism, science.

The Heads of States believes that the potential of the Belarusian-Venezuelan relations is enormous, but only a small part of it has been used so far. In this regard, the parties need to increase both the speed and the volume of co-operation.
