Voters Appealing to CEC to Let Voting by Driving License

Voters suggest extending early voting at future elections and allowing voting by driving license. This was announced by the CEC secretary Nikolai Lozovik at the CEC Information Centre.

«Many voters, calling at the CEC today, are puzzled over being unable to get the ballot by providing a driver’s license, while it’s still possible on presentation of a student or pension card,» BelTA quoted Nikolai Lozovik.
 
According to the CEC secretary, the electorate bases its opinion on the fact that student tickets are issued by high school, while the driver’s license — the Interior Ministry, which status is certainly higher than that of schools. «Claims of voters are well-founded,» Nikolai Lozovik said, adding that «the law is the law, even if it is imperfect, one must abide it.»

In addition, the CEC Secretary reported of the CEC, receiving a significant number of complaints about voting at non-registration sites. «Many voters could not arrive in time at the polling stations, they are to vote at, and even offer to extend the early voting period up to five days,» Nikolai Lozovik said.
