Wages in Belarus' Public Sector to Increase by 13%, Ministry of Labour

In order to further gradual increase of wealth and living standards, the government in concordance with the president has issued a decree № 925 on June 16, 2010 about the increase of the tariff rate of the first-class from June 1 of this year. According to the Minister of Labour and Social Protection, Marianna Shchetkina, raising of the tariff rate will give the possibility to increase wages in the public sector by an average of 13%.

Tariff rate of the first-class, which amounted to 81 thousand rubles from January of this year, has been raised to 90 thousand rubles, BelTA informs.

Firstly, the salary will increase for low-paid categories of employees (cleaner, watchman, hospital attendant, etc.). It will be achieved by increasing the size of correction factors, used in the formation of their wages. For example, wages of workers of 1 to 7 classes will increase by an average of 18%, and of 8 to 9 classes by 16% and 15% respectively.

The program of socio-economic development for 2006-2010 also stipulates that nominal gross average monthly wage should amount to abound 500 dollars by the end of 2010.
