Poland will adopt Alexander Lukashenko, re-elected for a fourth term, as de facto president. This was stated by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski at a meeting of the Committee on Foreign Relations of Seim and Senate of Poland on January 5. "Foreign Ministry does not propose any high-level meetings of the Polish authorities with Alexander Lukashenko," the Polish minister said.

In this case, Radoslaw Sikorski recalled that the OSCE had not recognized the results of the past elections in Belarus, Polskieradio.pl reports. The Polish minister also stressed that Poland’s position would focus on avoiding any protocol problems.

Polish Foreign Minister also said: «If the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko hadn’t allowed rigging of elections, he should have contended with one of the opposition candidates in the second round then.»
