We are Very Alike, Erdogan to Lukashenko

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko met with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan and President Abdullah Gul during his working visit to Turkey on October 2 in Istanbul. "We are all very alike," the head of the Turkish government noted during a one-to-one meeting in the Dolmabahce Palace. 

The parties discussed bilateral relations and the most promising areas for further cooperation, especially in trade and economic sphere, as well as topical international issues. Alexander Lukashenko expressed Belarus’ commitment to reach strategic partnership level with Turkey and willingness to offer this country a number of promising areas for joint activities, the press service of the State. 

«We know a lot of each other, and we possess a huge potential, used poorly though. If we implement all the discussed agreements, we will reach a very high level of cooperation,» President of Belarus declared during a working dinner with his Turkish counterpart at the residence of Taraba. The heads of states had been communicating for about two hours.

In turn, Abdullah Gul expressed confidence in the successful implementation of planned projects. «We are satisfied with the opportunity for Turkish companies to work in Belarus,» he said, noting that Belarus had created good conditions for investment.

As Telegraf reported, the Belarusian industrial engineers together with their Turkish colleagues are considering the possibility of a Turkish assembly of Belarusian tractors and cars. In addition, the Turkish government can purchase a large shipment of Belarusian dump trucks manufactured by BelAZ. The parties also consider cooperation in the Belarusian-Lithuanian-Ukrainian project to expand the route of container train «Viking».
