Foreign minister Sergei Martynov said that the expansion of cooperation with Venezuela is not an attempt to escape from Russia. "We did not change the vector. We can not leave the country without oil. And, accordingly, we are looking for oil where it is and where we have access to it, where conditions are favorable. And here is Venezuela, these issues are worked out, also during the visit of president ", — stressed the Minister.

«In the global «village» we should try to have links to all parts of the village, Belarusian foreign policy develops in such way, — noted minister of foreign affairs of Belarus.

«Of course, Russia is closer. And our work with Venezuela on the issues of oil and gas does not mean that we are trying to get away from our natural ally, from our main ally, from our principal ally to the important strategic partner, but located somewhere beyond the Pale land «, — said Sergei Martynov in his interview to program «Choice+» of ONT TV channel March 25.

On the issue of relations between Belarus and Iran, the foreign minister noted that Belarus does not see Iran as an aggressive force. Sergey Martynov stressed that even 30 years after the Islamic revolution, the volume of trade between the West and Iran is much more greater, than one between Belarus and Iran.

«Therefore I say to my colleagues simply and clearly: we are still behind you and need to go on and on and strengthen our relationship with Iran, just to reach the stage you have already reached. So do not worry, my friends,» — said the head of the Foreign Ministry.
