President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has said in an address to the nation and the parliament that "we have not learned a businesslike attitude to resources yet, as well as to look for an alternative to costly imports." As a result, consumption of materials and the import-production are growing," said the head of state.

«The Belarusian economy couldn’t but be affected by the global crisis, price shocks, extreme weather events. But we cannot conceal the fact that these objective circumstances have often been served as a cover of sluggishness, inefficiency, sloppiness and managerial incompetence,» said the Belarusian leader.

«We have an absolute kolkhoz, total mismanagement. Who’s been preventing you from solving this problem?» wondered Alexander Lukashenko.
