May 13, Alexander Lukashenko met in Minsk with Vietnamese President, Nguyen Minh Triet, who arrived in Belarus with official five-day visit. "Together we went through a bitter war unfolded on your territory, and I'm pleased that we won that war", the President of Belarus said.
«Vietnam is a country absolutely clear to us, we are keenly aware of Vietnamese people, we’ve had a close friendship for many decades», BelTA quotes Alexander Lukashenko. «Our points of view, attitudes and actions in the international arena are matched and closely coordinated. We operate in a coherent manner».
«We have never concealed that we count on your support in South-East Asia, at the same time, you can count on our support in Europe», the president of Belarus noted.
Alexander Lukashenko expressed the hope that during the current visit of Vietnamese President, accompanied by a delegation including the heads of large business corporations, the two countries «will be able to achieve very significant and positive changes in their relations».
Vietnam offers Belarus to fight against «the false opinion regarding human rights» together
In the course of negotiations, President of Vietnam has initiated a discussion on four main groups of questions. To develop trade and economic cooperation, Nguyen Minh Triet offered to consider the possibility of signing an agreement on free trade between Belarus and Vietnam. Also among the proposals of Vietnamese side, there called strengthening of interaction in the sphere of defense and military-technical field, in the international arena, cooperation in the fight against false opinions in respect of human rights in both countries.
«The visit takes place at crucial time when the people of Belarus together with the progressive humanity celebrate 65th anniversary of Victory over Fascism», Nguyen Minh Triet said. «We appreciate the sacrifices and heroism of Belarusian people in their fight to save humanity from fascism. The victory created the conditions to all peoples struggle for their independence, including in Vietnam».
