Belarus is ready to become the most active member of the "Eastern Partnership" project. This was stated by President Alexander Lukashenko in an interview with the largest German media on November 8. "We are ready to be the most active in the "Eastern partnership" if that is the will of European Union. But I'll say again that there's a very slight movement in this formation, this association," he said.

«We are waiting; we have suggested a specific project. Very profitable. For Germany, in particular. Especially for the northern and southern Europe. We are ready to let the European Union and all of Europe take advantage of our opportunities. We are ready for it,» the president said, TV channel CTV.

According to Alexander Lukashenko, there is no doubt that Belarus and the EU should move towards cooperation. He noted that 15 years, passed since the last visit of Foreign Minister of Germany to Belarus, appeared to be counterproductive from the standpoint of trying to «isolate Belarus and somehow weaken our nation and our society.»

«This example is eloquent. It suggests our cooperating. We live in this close and interdependent world. All the more that we live in the same place — it’s the same apartment, or the same quarter, which is Europe,» the head of state stressed.

Total interview with German press lasted more than two hours. As it became known to Telegraf, an interview with Alexander Lukashenko was attended by the correspondents of TV ZDF, newspapers «Süddeutsche Zeitung», «Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung», «Berliner Zeitung», «Die Welt», «Financial Times Deutschland», «Welt am Sonntag» , «Bild», as well as the Austrian «Die Presse».

Reporters managed to ask more than 20 questions during the interview. They, in particular, were interested in Belarusian-Russian relations, diversification of energy supplies in the country, the presidential elections, the abolition of capital punishment, conditions for foreign investors to participate in privatization of Belarusian companies.
