Belarus accuses "certain Western countries" of an attempt to draw the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe into their "policy of military pressure on Belarus," using "any means." This was stated by the Head of Information of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Andrei Savinykh at a briefing in Minsk on April 7.

«Group of States, manipulating the procedural blanks in the OSCE documents, took the initiative to send «mission speaker» to our country with no reason,» told the press secretary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.

According to the MFA Spokesman of Belarus, «arbitrary interpretation of the OSCE documents in the spirit of «double standards,» discriminatory initiatives and bloc thinking are contrary to the values of the organization and destroy its role as a key forum for the European security and cooperation.»

In this case, Andrei Savinykh stressed that Belarus «faithfully and fully» complied with its obligations within the OSCE. «We are steadily developing our cooperation with the organization in all directions, participating in all negotiation processes and consultations,» noted the Head of the Information Ministry of Belarus.

«Today we’ve received apparent confirmation that the current chairmanship of the OSCE and Western countries are not interested in an objective and equitable dialogue,» concluded Andrei Savinykh.

As Telegraf previously reported, chairman of the OSCE, Foreign Minister of Lithuania Audronius Ažubalis, said, speaking at a conference in Vilnius University on April 5, that Belarus was getting more and more closed, «inclining to a greater isolation.»

At the same time, the OSCE Representative on Media Freedom Dunja Mijatovic expressed concern about the pressure of the Belarusian authorities on the Belarusian and foreign journalists.
