Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus considered "false allegations about Belarus," appeared in the foreign media over the past few days, as an "information war." This was the commentary of Head of Information Ministry of Belarus Andrei Savinykh on the statement on February 28 about the possible involvement of Minsk into the events in Libya and Ivory Coast.
«First, they have cooked up the Belarusian mercenaries in Libya, then have invented an arrival in Minsk of the aircraft with gold and diamonds from Libya, today they have organized «prosecution» in violation of the mythical UN Security Council sanctions. All these statements do not correspond to the reality. In fact, destructive information attacks, aimed at discrediting the country, are being carried out,» official representative of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
«The main weapon of Belarus’s opponents is lies and slander. This proves once again the moral level and shows their real attitude to Belarus and the Belarusian people. The failure of these attempts is inevitable,» said Andrei Savinykh.
Ban Ki-moon’s Statement May not Be Relevant to UN Secretary General’s Office, MFA
Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus has expressed concern about «false accusations» of the arms supply to the Ivory Coast, bypassing the UN Security Council sanctions, as well as has questioned the validity of the statements, attributed to Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, appeared on the official website of the organization.
We’ve noticed that this material has a very strange title on the UN website, namely «the statement, attributed to the UN Secretary General.» One should figure out the way this story has appeared on the UN site. It is possible that it has no relation to the office of the Secretary-General,» a commentary of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry.
«The Republic of Belarus has always been treating seriously the decisions of the UN Security Council. An effective system of export controls on weapons has been created in Belarus. All these allegations do not correspond to the reality,» said Head of Information Ministry of Belarus.
