Tuesday, May 17, the court of Leninski district of Minsk continues hearing upon the criminal case against former presidential candidate Nikolai Statkevich and Dmitri Uss, as well as the protesters on December 19 Andrei Poznyak, Alexander Klaskovski, Alexander Kviatkevich, Artem Hribkov and Dmitriy Bulanov. The court passed to questioning of the witnesses, who claim of being unacquainted with the accused personally.

The first witness, questioned in court, a member of Special Forces, taken part in the dispersal of the demonstration on December 19, Oleg Dudarchik, born in 1971, became lost in his testimony. Initially, the witness had stated of being acquainted with neither any of the defendants, nor any of the victims.

The prosecutor read out the testimony, given by a witness on 10 February, proving his participation in the arrest of the accused Kviatkevich. During further questioning, the witness admitted that the testimony, given earlier, was correct. He stated that he had not recognized the accused in the court as it had changed a lot since the arrest. The witness admitted his participation in the arrest of Kviatkevich, while the defendant was shouting offensive slogans and using foul language with regard to the police officers.

A second witness, SWAT officer Naletski, born in 1985, also stated of being unacquainted with either the accused or the victim personally. The officer stated in the testimony of the preliminary investigation that he’d participated in the arrest of Kviatkevich. The witness admitted that he’d confused in his testimony but added that he had really detained the accused. At the same time, he said, he remembered Kviatkevich by his clothes — a cap and a sheepskin coat.

The accused himself claims that he was not detained by SWAT officer, but by a law enforcement officer in civilian clothes.

The third witness, a member of Special Forces, Viktor Tereshchenko, born in 1990, has joined his colleagues, claiming of being unfamiliar to none of the accused and the victims. The officer said in the testimony of the preliminary investigation that there was the accused Artem Hribkov among the ten people, which he had personally detained at Independence Square. At the same time Artem Hribkov stated of having been arrested not by SWAT officers, but by ordinary police officers in the uniform not at the Independence Square but near the train station.

In addition, the witness said that there was the «icebreaker» in the hands of one of the protesters. During questioning, police officer noted later that he had even seen the reinforcement near the SWAT office transport.
