World Bank Fund Allocated Five Grants to Public Organizations in Belarus

Five projects of NGOs from Belarus have become the winners of the Fund for Social Development of the World Bank in 2011. The Fund will allocate Grants of $ 8 — 9.5 thousand to these projects. This was reported in the World Bank representation in Belarus.

Thus, Homel Voblast Public Association of Disabled Persons with musculoskeletal system disabilities will receive the grant for the project «Towards a barrier-free environment,» BelTA informs.

Another grant will go to the project of a public association «Women for the revival of the Naroch edge.» The union plans to organize training of rural school children of the Naroch region in small business.

Homel Regional Charitable Public Association «Education» will be provided with a grant to create a platform «Innovator of frugality» for students, teachers, parents and residents of Homel.

Another grant, allocated to Brest voblast branch of the public organization «Ahova ptushak Batskaushchyny» (Protection of Fatherland’s birds), will go on attracting troubled teens and local residents to actively protect the habitat of rare species of dormice in Brest, Kobrin and Malorita areas.

Charity Foundation «Future for the Youth» from Zhodino plans to establish a community center through the World Bank grant, promoting young family, which is called «Ecology of the family.»

63 projects were presented in the competition by the Fund for Social Development at the World Bank in Belarus in 2011. All of them were aimed at solving local problems with the active participation of the public. The annual program of the Social Development Fund for NGOs has been working in Belarus since 1999. 81 grand for a total of more than $500 thousand has been allocated for this period.
