Ukraine plans to begin Venezuelan oil shipment to Belarus via the Odessa-Brody pipeline and "Friendship". This was stated by the President of the Ukraine Viktor Yanukovich at a joint press conference with his Venezuelan counterpart Hugo Chavez in Kiev on October 18.
«Today, we carry this oil in the tanks, but will soon use the pipeline. This plan to execute in respect of Venezuela and Belarus. In the future these issues will be solved together,» the Ukrainian leader said, BelTA.
According to Viktor Yanukovych, the transit of hydrocarbons should be discussed in future jointly by the three interested parties: Belarus, Ukraine and Venezuela. The president of the Ukraine stressed that the decision to use pipelines should not affect either the interests of Russia or Russian-Ukrainian relations.
