Ukraine takes neutral line in the Russian-Belarusian gas conflict, Oleh Voloshyn, Director of Department of Information Policy of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, stated at a briefing on June, 22nd.
«Ukraine is absolutely neutral at political level. We don’t try to interfere at all in economic conflicts», he said.
Answering the specifying question, whether the statement of Ukrtransgaz for its readiness to increase transit of Russian gas to Europe in connection with reduction of gas delivery through Belarus worsens Belarusian-Ukrainian relations, Voloshyn said: «Business is business. If there is a company which is authorised by the state to earn money in the budget of the state by gas transit, it shouldn’t lose possibilities to gain. Finally, the citizens of Ukraine and the Ukrainian budget will get benefits from it».
