665 Centenarians Live in Belarus

665 centenarians, including 556 women and 99 men, live In Belarus. There are only women (16) in the age group over 110 years, two of them are more than 115-year-old, Svetlana Ermakovich, Head of the Department of Veterans and the Elderly People Affairs of the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, said.

Hrodna Voblast is leading among the regions of Belarus on the number of centenarians. On October 1, 2010 there were 156 people aged over 100 years.  Minsk Voblast is on the second position in this ranking (112 centenarians), Brest Voblast is on the third (98).  82 centenarians live in Homel Voblast, 80 in Vitsebsk Voblast, 70 in Mahilyou Voblast, BelTA informs.
According to Svetlana Ermakovich, Minsk is on last position on the number of centenarians. Despite the largest population in the capital, the number of the people aged 100 years or older is the least there (just 67).
