Import of cars by individuals on the territory of the Customs Union's member-countries will be governed by national legislations of these countries. It was stated on June 29 by Deputy Chairman of Belarusian State Customs Committee, Sergei Borisyuk. Thus, on July 1, the regulations for individuals' cars import to Belarus will not be changed.

Sergei Borisyuk declared that the Customs Code of the CU did not impose tariffs on motor cars for individuals. «This issue is governed by certain intergovernmental agreement, which endorsement is still pending», vice-chairman of the SCC said, BelTA informs.

According to Sergei Borisyuk, under the Customs Code of the Customs Union, if at the time of its entry into force any norms, defined by the Code, are not adjusted by any decisions of the Commission of the Customs Union or intergovernmental agreements, then these norms are governed by national legislations.

The representative of the SCC stated that on the territory of Belarus and Russia there would be implemented similar norms of import of personal property and vehicles by individuals. «The order of personal property and vehicles import by individuals on the territory of Belarus is similar to import of personal property and vehicles on the territory of the Russian Federation», he stressed.

While the agreement is not signed, in Russia there will be also used national legislation. But, as Sergei Borisyuk reminded, according to it there established higher tariffs on vehicles imported by individuals. Therefore, when importing cars, taken off the register in Belarus, on Russia’s territory by Belarusian citizens or by citizens of any other country, it will be necessary to pay money equivalent to customs duty to the customs authorities of the Russian Federation.
