Kobyakov Becomes Authorized Representative of Belarus in the Council of the EDB

According to the decision of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus № 1121 on July 28, 2010, Deputy Prime Minister, Andrei Kobyakov, appointed as an authorized representative of the country in the Council of the Eurasian Development Bank. Economy Minister, Nikolai Snopkov, became his deputy.

The document also defines the Ministry of Finance as official body of Belarus, the Eurasian Development Bank will resolve all the issues, arising under the statute of EDB from January 12, 2006, with, BelTA informs.

As Telegraf previously reported, in June 2010, Belarus paid its contribution of 15 million dollars in authorized capital stcok of the Eurasian Development Bank, and thereby completed all necessary procedures, associated with entry in the EDB. Thus, Belarus became the fifth full-fledged participant of the bank, along with Russia, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Tajikistan.

On June 17, Belarusian government and the Eurasian Development Bank signed an agreement, which defines the terms of the bank’s stay in the territory of Belarus. Moreover, the adopted document allows EDB to establish its office in Minsk, as well as to begin to work out investment projects in Belarus more actively.

The purpose of the EDB activity is to promote market economy of the bank’s member-countries, their economic growth and expansion of trade and economic relations between them through investment activity.
