Trade Deficit of Belarus Reached $2.35 Billion

Foreign trade deficit in goods and services amounted to $879.4 million in Belarus in March 2011 against $921.1 million in February and $554 million in January 2011, according to the National Bank. Trade deficit exceeded $2.35 billion in the first quarter 2011, which is 3.5 times higher than in the first quarter of 2010.

Balance of foreign trade in January-March 2011 was negative amounting to $2.81 billion (in 2.5 times more than the same period in 2010), services — positive in the amount of $464.2 million (1.5% more than in January-March 2010), AFN.

Foreign trade turnover of goods and services increased in January-March 2011 by 52.4% compared with January-March 2010 and amounted to nearly $2.02 billion. Exports of goods and services increased by 41.9% to $8.92 billion, imports — by 61.8% to $11.27 billion.
