Rising youth unemployment is one of the major concerns in all EU member states, along with a recognition that young people are at increasing risk of alienation and disenchantment.
The Employment Week conference on 24-25 November in Brussels covers this burning issue in two key sessions:
I — The NEXT generation — The right skills in the right place at the right time

Youth employment is a major issue and significant efforts are being dedicated to improving the future employability of our young people. The Generation Europe Foundation has carried out a pan-European research project on how we prepare young people for entry to the market. The speakers will consider the activities, policies and changes that governments, employers and individuals can implement to improve the situation.

Richard Savage, Director, Future Work Forum — Future Work Forum works with CEOs and HR Directors to help them anticipate the future of work and to develop strategies and plans that will help them meet their objectives — inspiring, engaging and directing the best performance from their people
II — Solutions for raising youth employment, with a focus on improved education and mobility

We must be inventive and earnest in our commitment to the creation of jobs for European Union youth. Integration, good skills sets and mobility are vital. We need to recognise the contribution that volunteer work can add to a CV, as well as the results achieved through more conventional routes. Our presenters will explore these avenues to inclusion.
